Core Group Meeting Minutes for May
HEALTHY PLANET OF BREVARD MEETING MINUTES
May 23, 2006

The core group of the Healthy Planet of Brevard met at the Satellite Beach Library, on May 23, 2006, at 7:38 p.m. I n attendance were John Cielukowski, Eric Fricker, Barbara Bingnear, Judy McCluney, and Claris Withrow.

Claris read the minutes of the last meeting.

Treasurer’s report - Judy reported that the bank balance is $1,900.29.

Eric reported that the Dining Out at the Health Station was very good. However, there was one couple seated by themselves and he stated that the officers should make it a point to make sure everyone feels welcome and part of the group.

Dining Out - Barbara said that the next dining out will be held on June 17th at the Thai Fuji Restaurant in Rockledge. It is located in the Publix shopping center on the corner of Murrell Road and Barnes Blvd. It is small and so twenty people will be the maximum that can attend.

Barbara had ordered the Why Vegan and Even If You Eat Meat for outreach and Eric made the motion to reimburse her for the $55 that they cost. Motion carried. Also Eric made the motion to reimburse John for the $30 it cost him to transfer the 30 minute VHS tape "Diet For A New America" to a CD. This also carried.

It was the general consensus of the core group that Kenneth Williams, the vegan body builder, was too expensive to bring in. George Eisman is scheduled for October.

John C will setup and man the information table along with Claris at the Earth Day celebration in north Lori Wilson Park on June 10th, at 10:00. Eric and Barbara will take over the table at noon and stay until closing at 2:00.

Eric will send a get well/thinking of you card from the organization to longtime volunteer and HPoB booster, Bea Byrne. She has had surgery on her hands. Claris will send a thinking of you card to core member, Marcie Katz, who is going through a difficult time.

The annual Independence Day picnic will be held at Wickham Park on Sunday, June 25th from 12:00 to 3:00. John will check with Sunseed Coop in Cape Canaveral about donating the vegan hot dogs, burgers and buns. John will bring charcoal and Barbara will bring iced tea. John has a roll of paper that we can use to cover the tables. Claris will bring thumb tacks to hold it down. Attendees are asked to bring their own table service but it will be provided for those who don’t have any.

The next meeting will be held on June 27th at 7:30 p.m. at the Satellite Beach Library. It was agreed that there would be no meeting for the month of July.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

Claris Withrow, Secretary

Vegan Dining Out - Save the date

Hello,

Please save Saturday, June 17th, 5:30pm for Healthy Planet of Brevard’s next Dining Out.

The restaurant is Thai-Fuji, 3824 Murrell Road (Publix shopping center, corner of Barnes), Rockledge.

It’s an attractive restaurant with great food. We will be limited to 20 people so reserve early. I don’t have the menu or price yet but I think we will be served family style – and the food will not disappoint you.

I’ll let you know as soon as I have the menu and price.
