HPoB February Core Meeting Minutes
HEALTHY PLANET OF BREVARD MEETING MINUTES
February 28, 2006

The core group of the Healthy Planet of Brevard met at the Satellite Beach Library, on February 28th, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. In attendance were Eric Fricker, Vicki Murfin, Barbara Bingnear, Judy McCluney, John Cielukowski, Claris Withrow.

Claris read the minutes of the last meeting and publicly thanked Vicki for taking notes and writing the minutes of the January meeting.

Treasurer’s report - Judy reported that the bank balance is $1,618.62.

Eric had posted changes to the Operating Agreement on the blog for member comment if they disagreed with the changes. There were no comments so the change was approved.

Events - Vicki reported that she had received a note from Will Tuttle along with four CD’s for us to sell. Will is agreeable also for John to make copies of the CD’s for us to sell. Vicki will talk with Lesley Brindley about Farmer Brown staying at her house for three nights while he is here in the area. Members are asked to bring healthy snacks to the Library when Farmer Brown speaks on March 18th. Ray is ordering the Get Healthy Now DVD’s for the Library and we will be able to use them to have a showing for the public. Earth Day celebration is April 22 at Lori Wilson Park.

Dining Out - Barbara reported that the Dining Out at Magnolia’s was a wonderful event and enjoyed by all but there was some problem with the chef as he charged HPoB $125 for some no-shows. He later apologized and said that he will deduct $100 on our next visit. The next Dining Out will be held in May at China Garden on Merritt Island at 5:30. There is room for 20 people max. Cost will be $15.99, tax included. There will be no April Dining Out. Barbara checked with the Green Turtle about having a D.O. there but there was no interest shown by the chef. Other suggestions were Pizza Gallery, Taste of India and Tuscany Grill.

Membership - In Marcie’s absence, John read the report that she had sent via e-mail. For the month of February there was one new member and 4 renewals. When the mission statement is finalized, she will update the membership application form to include Judy’s address and the statement. She will have an updated roster at the March meeting.

The Mission Statement was discussed and reworked. The final version is
Healthy Planet of Brevard inspires people to shift towards a plant-centered diet to improve their health, to encourage compassion for animals, and to achieve a sustainable environment.

John will work on a rough draft of an HPoB brochure and have it ready for review at the next meeting. He wants to have it finalized and ready for the Earth Day celebration in April.

Next meeting will be held on March 28th at the Satellite Beach Library.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
