Bombay Cafe - "Two Thumbs Up" My friend Peggy encouraged me to eat at this new Indian restaurant located at the Merritt Square Mall Food court, and we did. It’s not all vegetarian though. But they do have many vegetarian dishes. It’s called “Bombay Café” I highly encourage and recommend everyone to try it, it’s excellent and your stomach will love you for the rest of your life if you try it. So far it’s the best of all the Indian restaurants I have tried. Paul Andrews Saturday, August 14, 2004

HPoB July 28 Meeting Minutes The core group of the Healthy Planet of Brevard met at the Satellite Beach Library on July 28, 2004, at 7:15 p.m. In attendance were Judy McCluney, Barbara Bingnear, John Ceilukowski, Eric Fricker and Claris Withrow. Judy reported that the treasury now has a $701 balance. Barbara reported that 17 people attended the Dining Out at Cantina Dos Amigos. There will be no Dining Out in August. In September, it will be held at Asian Gourmet on the 18th ; Island Pasta Company on October 30th ; Turkey Free Thanksgiving at Suntree Rotary Park on the Indian River on November 20th; and Daisen Japanese Restaurant on Merritt Island on December 11th. Cynthia Krueger, HPoB’s Animal Advocacy officer, has moved from the area. Eric will send out a meeting reminder e-mail prior to each core meeting. In Dan Robinson’s absence, Eric reported that we have 2 new members. Wayne Pacelle, president of Humane Society of US, has offered to speak in Brevard, however, he has a $1000 speaking fee. Barbara will approach him about coming for a reduced fee possibly in the Spring, explaining to him that we are a new organization, just getting started and can’t afford $1000 at this time. George Eisman, nutritionist, has no speaking fee. He offers his books for sale at his talks. He will be approached about speaking at the Cocoa Beach Library on October 31st. Vicki reported that she has had no response from Soy Delicious about our Healthy Heart Ice Cream Social. She did suggest that HPoB get a list of events scheduled at the Cocoa Beach Library and plan to do tabling at some of them. Judy reported that the Suntree Rotary Park has been reserved for the Turkey Free Thanksgiving Festival on November 20th. The pavilion there will hold 150 people. It will be a traditional Thanksgiving festival much like the very first Thanksgiving, serving foods such as corn, squash, tomatoes and beans. Judy will invite the Inter Tribal Council locally so possibly we can get some authentic native Americans involved and participating. There was discussion about taking reservations and also asking for $5 donation. No decision was made and will be discussed further at the next meeting. The north Brevard and south Brevard potlucks have been canceled until coordinators for those events can be found. The next meeting is scheduled for August 25th at the Satellite Beach Library at 7:15 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Claris Withrow Secretary Sunday, August 01, 2004
Dining Out Calendar Please mark your calendar to join Healthy Planet of Brevard Dining Outs for the rest of 2004. The dates are as follows: September 18 - Asian Gourmet – October 30 - Island Pasta Company - November 20 – Turkey-Free Thanksgiving celebration at Suntree Rotary Park December 11 – Daisen – I hope to see you there! Barbara Bingnear Dining Out Coordinator Healthy Planet of Brevard http://www.healthyplanet.blogspot.com/ If one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned and, once large sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people. -Ruth Harrison | |
