Minutes for Leadership Meeting of 12-03-03 HEALTHY PLANET of BREVARD December 3, 2003 The core group of the Healthy Planet of Brevard met at the Cocoa Beach Library on December 3, 2003, at 7:30 p.m. In attendance was Eric Fricker, Judy McCluney, John Cielukowski, Vicki Murfin, Dan Robinson and Claris Withrow. The meeting opened with Claris reading the minutes of the November meeting. Judy corrected the treasurer’s report that was stated in the minutes. Treasurer Judy then read her report. She has opened a checking account at the Riverside National Bank of Florida and our current balance is $390. Also it was discussed that the group is non-profit but not tax exempt. Chair Eric reiterated that HBoP is very interested in working with and supporting the Raw Foods group that Lanie Reed has established. In Barbara Bingnear’s absence, Eric said that there are 22 people signed up for the December 6th Dining Out at the Strawberry Mansion. Four of those will get a raw food dinner as they requested. At that dining out, there will be a $10 gift exchange. Dan Robinson, reported that our membership now stands at 20 members. He stated that the different membership classes or groups need to be reexamined by the core group. Pot Luck coordinator, Vicki Murfin, reported that Community Harvest was not available for pot lucks in the southern part of the county so the search is still on to find a place either in Palm Bay or Melbourne. For the present time, pot lucks will continue to be held each month at the Cape Canaveral Hospital. Vicki also reported that she had spoken with Chas Chido about giving a cooking demonstration in the area and he said that he would be available either February or April in 2004. The organizational chart was discussed but no final decision on changes was made. Due to lack of time, the Operating Agreement was not discussed. Eric asked anyone with redlines on their copy to contact him via e-mail and inform him about the changes that they feel are needed. The next scheduled meeting of the core group will be January 7 at the Cocoa Beach Library at 7:30 p.m. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Claris Withrow, Secretary Friday, December 19, 2003
Maharaja I have heard so much about Maharaja that I am dying to try it out. I think we should put off "Taste of Goa" for a while and go to Maharaja. Thursday, December 18, 2003
Yum! We will definitely go to Maharaja in 2004! So far we have agreed to The Health Station in Indialantic, followed by Asian Gourmet in Melbourne. We were going back to Taste of Goa next but we can go to Maharaja instead if everyone agrees. Sunday, December 14, 2003
“MAHARAJA” vegetarian Indian Cuisine I thought I would share this message from Paul: That Indian restaurant that I’ve been telling you about is called “MAHARAJA” vegetarian Indian Cuisine located at 12239 University Blvd Orlando right across from UCF. The phone # is (407) 384-8850. The prices are the lowest I’ve seen so far. The Indian restaurants here just don’t or can’t hold a candle to that one. But I have to warn you, when you eat there, your stomach will love you for the rest of your life. And you might not want to eat at any of the Indian restaurants here anymore. I strongly recommend you and your family to try it sometime. I also suggest that Healthy Planet of Brevard have a vegetarian dining out there sometime too. But the same warnings go for them also. Every time I go there I have something different, and each time I try a dinner, it is better than the dinner I tried the last time I went there. So far my favorite dish is called Dry Potatoes I thought they were the same as the Curried Potatoes that they had at Rita’s but they were very different and much better. Weather we do have a vegetarian dining out there or not, please conceder trying it out. You won’t regret it Sat Nam In Ahimsa Ah Salom Allakeehm Paul Andrews p34u@gbronline.com Let us embrace the principals of the apostle of nonviolence; Mahatma Gandhi, For his life should be an example to us all. Victory can be only acheaved through nonviolenve: An eye for an eye will only make the world blind. Not Tax-Exempt Yet I should probably take a second to let everyone know that, as I understand it, HPoB is a non-profit organization however we do not yet have a "tax-exempt" status. So donations to our organization are not currently tax deductible, but we are working on it. Unfortunately it is a long and drawn out process. As soon as it happens we will let everyone know. I also wanted to thank Dan, for getting the logo working on our web site. It looks good Dan. TTFN, Eric Friday, December 12, 2003

Pizza So the engineers won a volleyball game against the managers and the managers had to buy us a pizza lunch. The department secretary asked me if she should just order me a salad. So I told her no thanks, just put me down for a veggie pizza "no cheese". She gets huffy and says that the manager will not buy a whole pizza without cheese and that no one would eat it. So I told her to just leave me out. She backs off a little bit and so I asked her how many pizza's she was ordering and suggest she just order me a smaller pizza. She said she would check with the manager. So I told her not to worry about it and that I would bring my own lunch. She is the kind of person that talks about her roast beef dinner and how yummy it was, in an attempt to make me feel like I am missing out on something. Constantly talking to me about how much she loves "scrapple" (a mush of ground pork and cornmeal that is set in a mold and then sliced and fried). Now that is enough to make a wayward vegetarian come back to the meat-eater fold. ---------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Turns out that she did order me a small veggie pizza "no cheese" and she was very nice about it. So alls well that ends well. I didn't even miss the scrapple. | |
